The Award Ceiling for Year 1 is 0 (none). CDC anticipates an Approximate Total Fiscal Year Funding amount of $7,000,000 for Year 1, subject to the availability of funds. This NOFO is a follow on and builds upon previous NOFO number CDC-RFA-GH16-1629. As PEPFAR programs focus on use of data for fighting the HIV epidemic, it is crucial that up to date programmatic and impact data become available for evidence-based planning. Through this NOFO, it is expected that the recipient will support the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Public Health Institute of Malawi (PHIM) in building HIV surveillance capacity through provision of technical assistance (TA) and generation of high-quality epidemiologic data which is collected in a manner consistent with international standards. Capacity building in relevant technical skills can be through on the job training or the use of applied learning experiences. The recipient will be expected to collaborate with the MOH and other partners in developing survey protocols, conducting surveys, analyzing and disseminating data, as well as publishing in peer reviewed journals. Specific surveillance surveys to be implemented each year will vary and will be dependent on surveillance scheduled intervals, availability of funding as well as information gaps that are identified during the project period. The recipient may also support design and implementation of program evaluations to monitor impact of CDC-funded activities to respond to the HIV epidemic. This is a non-research NOFO; funds from this NOFO may not be used to support research activities.
