Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health

Description

The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH), Office on Women's Health (OWH) announces the anticipated availability of funds for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 under the authority of Section 1703(a) of the PHS Act (42 U.S.C. § 300u-2(a)), and Section 229 of the PHS Act (42 U.S.C. § 237a). This initiative will involve a collaboration between OWH and the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Family Violence Prevention and Services Program. ACF will provide technical advice to OWH but will not provide funding or make awards under this initiative. Additionally, the ACF Family Violence Prevention and Services Program will be available to recipients for training and technical assistance for this demonstration initiative. The primary focus of OASH is leading America to healthier lives, especially for those who are most vulnerable, including those who have suffered historic disparities. In support of this vision, OWH provides national leadership and coordination to improve the health of women and girls through policy, education, and innovative programs. OWH advances and coordinates a comprehensive women’s health agenda across the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and works to develop and expand innovative approaches to advance the field of women’s and girls’ health. To that end, this initiative addresses the intersection of the following HHS Priority areas: maternal health; mental health; substance use disorder; and intimate partner violence. In addition, the training of providers and development and evaluation of interventions align with OWH's work on disease prevention and health promotion for issues of particular concern to women throughout their lifespan; support of new and innovative programs in health information and health promotion, preventive health services; and work to provide for the exchange of information.
