Description

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) leads the coordinated national response to White-nose Syndrome (WNS), a fungal disease of hibernating bats. Financial assistance is provided for priority research and management activities in support of the WNS National Plan. As of March, 2022, WNS or the causative fungus have been documented in at least 41 states and 8 Canadian provinces, and in at least 12 species of North American bats. The goal of this funding opportunity is to address critical information needs to inform management decisions and to implement management actions for susceptible bats. Funded projects will produce timely results and deliverables responsive to the stated priorities of the funding opportunity. Priorities are determined annually by the Service’s National Coordinator for WNS, in cooperation with the National WNS Response Team and are intended to direct draw proposals that will lead directly to advancing conservation of WNS affected species of bats..
