Description

OJP is committed to advancing work that promotes civil rights and racial equity, increases access to justice, supports crime victims and individuals impacted by the justice system, strengthens community safety and protects the public from crime and evolving threats, and builds trust between law enforcement and the community. With this solicitation, BJS seeks applications for funding to administer the FY 2023 Law Enforcement Core Statistics (LECS) program. BJS has conducted surveys of law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and will update that collection with this solicitation. The LECS will focus on the organizational characteristics of LEAs to provide accurate and timely national statistics about the personnel, operations, policies, and procedures of federal, state, county, local, and tribal LEAs in the United States. The LECS includes BJS’s two core law enforcement collections: the Law Enforcement Management and Administrative Statistics (LEMAS) survey and the Census of State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies (CSLLEA).
