FY 2024 Strengthening Bangladesh’s Trade Facilitative Phytosanitary Regulatory Systems
ArchivedForeign Agricultural Service
Description
FAS seeks to build upon past and current USDA/FAS-sponsored sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) regulatory technical assistance work in Bangladesh that focused on building the transparency and technical skills of the Government of Bangladesh’s National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO). Past work focused on improving the NPPO’s knowledge of, and, in turn, adherence to, International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC)-established standards through workshops and training series. The recipient will work closely with the Bangladesh NPPO, stakeholders within Bangladesh’s agricultural sector, USDA/FAS, and donor in-country partners to strengthen the institutional and technical capacities of the NPPO to implement its mandates guided by the IPPC. This program will also collaborate with regional partner programs in South and Southeast Asia to facilitate regional dialogues on SPS regulatory harmonization.
