Geological Survey

Description

The US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research in aerial imaging surveys for nesting sea turtle activity. To help assess the injury to nesting sea turtles from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, a complete understanding of trends in nesting abundance is necessary. However, accessibility to some areas that may support turtle nesting, including much of Louisiana’s coastline and barrier islands, creates challenges for conducting repeatable cost-effective surveys.
