October 28, 2025 PLEASE NOTE: On October 27, 2025, a Court in the case State of Washington, et al. v U.S. Department of Education, et al., 2:25-cv-1228-KKE (W.D. Wash.) issued a preliminary injunction (“Order”) regarding the earlier non-continuation of several grants in the Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration Grant (“MHSP”) and the School-Based Mental Health Services Grant (“SBMH”) programs. Please note that the Court’s Order does not impact the application submission deadline for the ongoing MHSP and SBMH grant competitions, and that deadline remains October 29, 2025 at 11:59:59 pm ET. Purpose of Program: The SBMH program provides competitive grants to State educational agencies (SEAs)(as defined in 20 U.S.C. 7801(49)), local educational agencies (LEAs) (as defined in 20 U.S.C. 7801(30)), and consortia of LEAs to increase the number of credentialed school-based mental health services providers delivering mental health services to students in high-need LEAs.
