The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is the research, development, and evaluation agency of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and a component of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP). NIJ provides objective, independent, evidence-based knowledge and tools to enhance the administration of justice and public safety. NIJ solicits applications to inform its search for the knowledge and tools to guide policy and practice. Consonant with Section 510 of the Court Security Improvement Act of 2007 (Public Law 110–177), NIJ is soliciting proposals for a national study that will provide a comprehensive compilation of Federal and State collateral consequences for criminal convictions. The purpose of this research is to inform and improve criminal justice policy and practice by providing policymakers with the information they need to understand the legal and regulatory barriers that may affect successful offender reentry into the community.
