Description

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Research Education grant is a clinically-focused, curriculum and/or research-program building mechanism designed to foster the development of clinical and health services researchers. Although participants may receive a salary/subsistence allowance, this mechanism of support is not to be used for long-term support of participants, and is thus distinct from training mechanisms such as the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) and career development awards. Any duration of funding of an individual participant that is longer than two years may be considered long-term support. Therefore, applicants should obtain prior approval in writing from NIDA if an extension of support beyond the two-year period is required.
