Description
-Purpose. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), and the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), solicits research grant applications to conduct studies designed to develop innovative approaches that would contribute to our understanding of the mechanisms that impact on the virulence of infections involving two or more microorganisms or strains of microorganisms (with the exception of HIV). -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) mechanism that runs in parallel with a FOA of identical scientific scope, PA-08-092, and encourages applications under the R21 mechanism. -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.
