Description

Purpose. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is intended to support new investigators on-going basic or clinical alcohol, drug abuse and/or related co-morbidity research. The primary goal of this Support Opportunity for Addiction Research (SOAR) for New is to leverage existing research programs in order to strengthen, possibly expand, and/or further develop alcohol, drug abuse, and co-morbidity research. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the R03 grant mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The NIAAA and NIDA have set aside $1.2 million in Fiscal Year 2009 to fund 25 to 35 applications.
