This Funding Announcement is not a request for applications. This announcement is to provide public notice of the Bureau of Land Management?s intention to fund the following project activities without full and open competition. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Bat Conservation International, Inc. (BCI), through a cooperative agreement, will conduct a joint effort for the purpose of furthering the conservation and management of bats in abandoned mines on public lands managed by the BLM to (1) avoid the need to protect bats under the Endangered Species Act, (2) to enhance the safety for public land users, and (3) to increase scientific knowledge of bat habitat type and distribution.
