Description

Assess rangeland health as it relates to reindeer grazing on the Seward Peninsula. Other factors such as the impacts from the Western Arctic Caribou Herd and the potential vegetative shifts from climate change are necessary in assessing rangeland health. This project would collect monitoring data, install grazing enclosures for long term vegetation monitoring, synthesize monitoring protocols for collaborative analysis, assess rangeland health, and would perform land health mapping. This project will be completed using the North and West Alaska Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (NWAK-CESU).
