Turtle Study on the Missouri River in Montana

Description
To conduct a detailed study to augment the baseline information recently collected on spiny softshell turtles. Using radio transmitters, describe daily and seasonal movements and determine the size of home ranges. To determine spring, summer, nesting, and overwintering habitat preferences at four scales: 1) longitudinal (i.e., river kilometer locations); 2) reach type (i.e., confined, unconfined, braided, meandering); 3) habitat unit (i.e., pool type, crossover, secondary channel), microhabitat (i.e., inside bend, outside bend, distance to shore, depth, substrate).
