The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is the research, development, and evaluation agency of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and a component of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP). NIJ provides objective, independent, evidence-based knowledge and tools to enhance the administration of justice and public safety. NIJ solicits applications to inform its search for the knowledge and tools to guide policy and practice.NIJ seeks qualified applicants to operate a Corrections Technology Center of Excellence (“the Center”) within the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center System (“the NLECTC System”). The work that this new center will perform is currently being performed by the Weapons and Protective Systems Technology Center of Excellence (WPSTC). The WPSTC has been operated since 2007 by the Pennsylvania State University in collaboration with the University of Denver. How to Apply: Applications will be submitted through Office of Justice Programs’s Grants Management System (GMS). GMS is a Web-based, data-driven computer application that provides cradle to grave support for the application, award and management of grants at OJP. Applicants should begin the process immediately to meet the GMS registration deadline, especially if this is the first time they have used the system. Complete instructions on how to register and submit an application in GMS can be found at www.ojp.usdoj.gov/gmscbt/.
