Data Collection and Support Services for Malawi's Agricultural Development Program-Support Project's Impact Evaluation
ArchivedMillennium Challenge Corporation
Description
The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is a Federal Corporation created under Title VI of the Foreign Operations, Export Financing, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2004. The MCC is seeking professional services to provide data collection and analysis. The data collection and analysis will contribute to a collaborative effort between the MCC, World Bank, the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) Malawi through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MOA) of the Government of Malawi (GoM). A high level of coordination between these entities will be necessary since the data collection and analysis is related to the natural resource management (NRM) activity proposed for implementation by the MCA-GoM and its partners. Because the data collection and analysis will generate information that is of substantial public value to the global development community, the MCC is structuring its support as a grant. The objective of MCC’s contribution to the evaluation shall be to collect quantitative data that will provide evidence on the most effective dissemination mechanism to maximize the knowledge of farmers about sustainable practices, their actual adoption of these practices, and the resulting agricultural productivity. The data collection is also intended to help inform development and appraisal of the proposed Malawi Compact’s NRM activity--specifically an assessment of land use practices which are thought to contribute to environmental degradation in the upper Shire River.
