Description

The Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program seeks to increase public safety throughinnovative cross-system collaboration for individuals with mental illness or co-occurring mentalhealth and substance abuse disorders who come into contact with the justice system. TheBureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is seeking applications that demonstrate a collaborativeproject between criminal justice and mental health partners from eligible applicants to plan,implement, or expand a justice and mental health collaboration program. This program isauthorized by the Mentally Ill Offender Treatment and Crime Reduction Act of 2004 (MIOTCRA)(Pub. L. 108-414) and the Mentally Ill Offender Treatment and Crime Reduction Reauthorizationand Improvement Act of 2008 (Pub. L. 110-416).
