The Political Section at U.S. Embassy Kabul is pleased to announce that we are currently accepting applications for the newly-launched Afghan Women’s Empowerment (AWE) Grants Program. The AWE Grants Program provides $5,000-$50,000 grants for Afghan-led projects that increase women’s participation in the political sphere. Grant proposals should meet one or more of the following AWE priorities: • Encouraging women’s participation in Afghanistan’s political realm •Increasing women’s advocacy for legislative change •Raising women’s awareness of their constitutional rights within Afghanistan’s complex legal traditions •Promoting women’s participation in and awareness of the 2010 Parliamentary elections •Developing women’s leadership and advocacy skills Applications are accepted in English (preferred), Dari, and Pashto.
