BLM NV Ely SNPLMA White Pine County Wilderness Restoration and Implementation

Description
The Ely District Office, Bureau of Land Management nominated and was awarded a Round 10 Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act (SNPLMA) Conservation Initiatives Project to engage the Great Basin Institute to contribute to the management, protection, and conservation of public lands by enhancing the ability of professional BLM staffs to collect information necessary for making informed decisions regarding the management of Wilderness in Eastern Nevada. The White Pine County Wilderness Restoration and Implementation, SNPLMA Conservation Initiative Project BL67, Priority 10-1 will allow the BLM Ely District to be in compliance with the legal requirement of having written legal descriptions and legal maps for all 8 wilderness areas identified in the Pam White Wilderness Act of 2006 (P.L 109-432). It would also aid in implementation and management of wilderness within White Pine County, through illegal route restoration and through the development of wilderness management plans.
