Description

The purpose of the program is to reduce commercial tobacco use and abuse among American Indian and Alaska Native tribal members; eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke; promote commercial tobacco cessation; and prevent youth initiation to commercial tobacco use. This program announcement addresses the “Healthy People 2010” focus area(s) of tobacco use. This announcement is related to the two primary goals of: 1) increasing quality and years of healthy life; and 2) eliminating health disparities among segments of the population. Disparities may be described as differences that occur by gender, race or ethnicity, education or income, disability, geographic location, or sexual orientation.
