Description

The purpose of this agreement is to create a Great Lakes Early Detection Network, citizen science monitoring effort, by modifying an interface of the Global Organism Detection and Monitoring (GODM) federal database to be used by parks and the public to report invasive species and to generate modules that auto-report locations of new invasive species once they have been entered into the database. The Great Lakes Early Detection Network will foster invasive species data sharing, increase awareness of invasive species issues, and improve rapid response efforts to new populations of invasive plants in the region. Both an on-line invasive species data base and an email-based early detection warning system will be created for the Great Lakes Region. A centralized database and early detection system will ensure that all stakeholders are operating with the same dataset, which represents the current state of knowledge of invasive species populations in the region and throughout the U.S.
