Description

The purpose of the five-year program is to improve and increase the number of human resources for health and social welfare in Southern Africa. In summary, this will be achieved by addressing HR results in the 5 areas listed below: 1. National HRH/HSS plans, policies and systems implemented and managed 2. National HRIS developed and the use of data for decision-making across the region promoted. 3. Pre-service education systems for health and social welfare-related professionals, paraprofessionals and community health workers strengthened 4. Workforce shortages addressed through improved worker recruitment, retention, and productivity, including the community/informal workforce. 5. Health professional regulatory bodies and associations strengthened (e.g., nursing councils) which may register and credential health care workers, oversee continuing education, and/or accredit academic institutions.
