NOI Desert Big Horn Sheep
ArchivedFish and Wildlife Service
Description
Notice of Intent - The Service and NDOW are collaborating with the USGS, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the White Mountain Research Center, University of California, San Diego, to assess current status of the desert bighorn sheep population, e.g., overall health, population structure, causes of mortality (particularly from mountain lions) and habitat conditions. Completion of this project will provide critical information pertaining to the protection, conservation and management of desert bighorn sheep in the Desert National Wildllife Refuge. Cooperation in evaluating the condition of this bighorn sheep population and its habitat is, therefore, of mutual advantage to both the Service and the NDOW.
