Health Assessment of Captive Masked Bobwhite Quail Population
ArchivedMigratory Birds
Description
The Sonoran Joint Venture requests proposals from zoological institutions accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums to perform a comprehensive health assessment of the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge (BANWR) captive masked bobwhite quail (MBQ) population. Critical to the existence of the MBQ is a complete health assessment of the captive population. This will allow us to identify and correct potential problems and threats, and create interim management protocols to maintain the genetic and physical vigor of the captive flock until they can be moved to a new facility tentatively scheduled to be built in 2012.
