Description

THIS IS THE FULL ANNOUNCEMENT. The purpose of these agreements are to provide financial assistance to facilitate the management and monitoring of wolves on land of the Blackfeet, Salish and Kootenai, and Wind River tribes with the objective of helping the Fish and Wildlife to monitor the NRM wolf population and manage wolves to mitigate damage to livestock. The service has the responsibility to monitor the status of the NRM wolf population. The Blackfeet, Salish and Kootenai, and Wind River tribes have developed wolf management plans for the wolves on their tribal lands. Tribal participation assists the Service in accomplishing their goals and responsibilities under the ESA. Matching funds are not required but are encouraged. Additionally funding is based on the availability of funds.
