Description

This is a notice of intent to award a non-competitive, single-source award to the Columbia River Estuary Studies Task Force (CREST). The National Park Service (NPS)at Lewis & Clark National Historic Park (LEWI) proposes to cooperate with CREST to restore 33.5 acres of tidelands at a location within the park called Otter Point. This project would re-create the historic tidal marsh and Sitka spruce swamp present when the Clatsop people hosted the Lewis & Clark Expedition. This project is part of a larger, multi-phase effort to restore the cultural landscape that includes the Fort Clatsop hill. The re-created landscape will help visitors to understand why the fort hill was selected by the expedition and why it was a strategic location for settlement, commercial and government activity in the years that followed the expedition.
