Description

Purpose. This NIDCR Small Grant Program for New Investigators supports basic and clinical research of scientists who are in the early stages of establishing an independent research career in oral, dental, and craniofacial research. This R03 grant mechanism supports pilot or feasibility studies and developmental research projects with the intention of obtaining sufficient preliminary data for a subsequent Investigator-initiated Research Project Grant (R01) application. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Small Research Grant (R03) award mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the number, quality, duration, and costs of the applications received. Awards will also be contingent upon availability of funds and programmatic priorities.
