Funding is available through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Anadromous Fish Restoration Program to determine reach specific juvenile salmonid survival throughout the lower Stanislaus River.Design and implement a study to determine the geographic distribution of mortality of juvenile salmonids through the lower Stanislaus River. The study does not need to identify the source of mortality, although this information would be beneficial. The study methodology is left for the project applicant to devise, though it should take into consideration the ongoing rotary screw trapping at the Oakdale and Caswell sites as well as fish marking technologies such as Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tags, Juvenile Salmon Acoustic Telemetry System (JSATS), or other micro transmitter systems that have been used in similar studies in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta
